Right tackle Spencer Brown, despite returning to the game, sat out the final drive due to a shoulder injury.
The frustration was palpable, especially during a crucial fourth-and-1 play where Allen handed off to James Cook, resulting in a two-yard loss. Allen's visible frustration on the broadcast was a telling sign of the team's struggles.
A Sloppy Performance and the Need for Improvement
Coach Sean McDermott highlighted the issue of Allen taking too many hits, calling it an "unhealthy formula." The offensive failures were evident, with the team averaging a mere 2.3 yards per play, one of their lowest since Allen's arrival in 2018. This predictability, coupled with turnovers, has become a concern, with the Bills committing three turnovers in each of their past three games.
The Way Forward
Despite the challenges, McDermott expressed faith in his offensive staff and coaching team. The Bills will need to address these issues to improve their performance and stay competitive in the AFC East. As for Allen, he acknowledged the need for improvement, saying, "I got to be better, for sure."
